Valentina Oropeza is an investigative journalist and U.S. correspondent for the BBC, with over 20 years of experience as a bilingual reporter, editor, documentary presenter, and producer.<\/p>\n
Her coverage focuses on the social impact of political and economic events, particularly in the areas of migration, public health, human rights, gender, organized crime, and cross-border social dynamics in Latin America and the United States.<\/p>\n
As the founder and head of the Investigative Unit at Prodavinci in Caracas, Valentina led a team of journalists, data analysts, and designers to create innovative projects documenting the experiences of those affected by the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela.<\/p>\n
At the BBC, she has published stories regarding the dangers faced by migrants during their journeys across the Americas, particularly on their way to the United States.<\/p>\n
Valentina has received several international accolades\u2014including an Emmy Award and the King of Spain Award\u2014which underscore the importance of telling stories that resonate with audiences.<\/p>\n
