Cuando Chagid descubri\u00f3 que buena parte del puerto de Beirut hab\u00eda desaparecido por la explosi\u00f3n, se sec\u00f3 las l\u00e1grimas para ver bien el camino.<\/p>\n

Se intern\u00f3 en la ciudad y la escena lo dej\u00f3 mudo. Deambulaban personas ensangrentadas; una mujer luchaba por arrastrar dos maletas sobre los escombros. Las vigas de los edificios se plegaron como acordeones y colgaban pedazos de balcones que parec\u00edan a punto de caer. Ol\u00eda como si el mundo se hubiese quemado. Una bruma espesa opacaba la luz del sol.<\/p>\n

Al fondo de una calle impregnada de cenizas, divis\u00f3 a un grupo que ayudaba a trasladar a un herido. Entonces decidi\u00f3 trabajar como voluntario en la reconstrucci\u00f3n de Beirut.<\/p>\n

Chagid tiene 27 a\u00f1os y naci\u00f3 en Caracas. Pertenece a la tercera generaci\u00f3n de los Bacha Raffoul, una familia de migrantes libaneses que hicieron su vida en Venezuela. Como otros estudiantes universitarios, sali\u00f3 a protestar en 2014 por la criminalidad, la inflaci\u00f3n y la falta de alimentos y medicinas. Y sobre todo por la rabia que sent\u00eda desde que su pap\u00e1 y sus hermanos emigraron al L\u00edbano.<\/p>\n

Una vez escuch\u00f3 un disparo y perdi\u00f3 el conocimiento. Abri\u00f3 los ojos y hab\u00eda perdido el casco, la m\u00e1scara y los lentes que usaba para protegerse del choque contra los polic\u00edas y los guardias. Se toc\u00f3 la cara y la cabeza en busca de sangre. Nunca supo si le pegaron un perdig\u00f3n, una bala de goma o una metra, pero durante un rato solo escuch\u00f3 un pitido que apag\u00f3 los dem\u00e1s ruidos de la protesta.<\/p>\n

En octubre de 2019, sali\u00f3 a manifestar en Beirut y contra el gobierno liban\u00e9s. Esta es una historia de venezolanos y libaneses que emigraron por crisis econ\u00f3micas, pol\u00edticas y sociales. Habla del valor de asumir las costumbres de otros para construir un nuevo hogar lejos de casa.<\/p>\n
