VALENTINA OROPEZA
Valentina Oropeza (Caracas, 1983). For more than 20 years, she has worked as a journalist and investigative editor, special envoy, foreign correspondent, radio speaker, producer and presenter of documentaries.
She currently covers the United States and Latin America for global audiences from the BBC.
She founded two investigative units in the Venezuelan media and has directed investigations that have received more than a dozen awards such as the Emmy Award, the King of Spain, the Roche Award and the Award for Journalistic Excellence from the Inter-American Press Association.
She has been a grantee of the Pulitzer Center and a fellow of the World Press Institute at Saint Paul University. She studied journalism at the Andrés Bello Catholic University in Caracas. Valentina completed a master’s degree in International Relations at the Barcelona Institute of International Studies in Spain and a diploma in journalism and development at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication in New Delhi.
